【活動報告】街で見かけたら即ゲット!「TSUNAGO」第2号で京町家を愛する“変人”をご紹介!

Eyecatch

Hello. I'm Terashima, the representative employee of Gobunrashi LLC.

We are pleased to announce that the second issue of "TSUNAGO (Connecting people, regions, and culture in Kita Ward, Sakyo Ward, and Kamigyo Ward)," a free paper connecting regions, people, and culture, was published on July 15th!

Once again, we have collaborated with TSUNAGO to feature our original project, "Sakyo Eccentric Heroes," for which we provided article cooperation. This project introduces fascinating "eccentrics" living in Sakyo Ward, each with unique perspectives and passions.

Furthermore, we were delighted to introduce "Ichihara Hamoha Odori and Tessen Odori," a local intangible cultural heritage in which Gobunrashi LLC also participates.

This "Eccentric" is a passionate individual reviving Kyoto Machiya with new construction!

In the second issue, we are featuring "Mr. Tomohiro Naito of Gion Naito Kensetsu, an eccentric striving to revive Kyoto machiya by building new ones."

Mr. Naito, the fifth-generation owner of Gion Naito Kensetsu, is challenging the conventional wisdom in the world of Kyoto machiya, with its long history, by attempting to "build new Kyoto machiya." Due to revisions in building standards after the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, his path has been anything but smooth. However, Mr. Naito is overcoming these difficulties, collaborating with Kyoto City, academics, and artisans, and striving to forge a new path for the future of Kyoto machiya architecture.

The article details why Mr. Naito chose this unconventional challenge, his deep love and passion for Kyoto machiya, and his ardent desire to foster artisans to connect Japan's traditional techniques to the future. His words, "The skills that humans possess will truly become national treasures in the future, won't they?" resonate with the value that Gobunrashi LLC cherishes: expressing oneself "Gobunrashi (in one's own way)" and creating value.

Mr. Naito's dedication to his "believed path" and his creation of new value provide us with great inspiration.

If you see it in town, be sure to pick it up!

This "Sakyo Eccentric Heroes" article allows readers to deeply experience Mr. Naito's passion and his grand vision for the future of Kyoto machiya, complete with photographs.
