Hello. I'm Terashima, a representative employee of Be Myself LLC.
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of appearing on KBS Kyoto's radio program "Sarapin! Kyoto"! ✨
Thanks to pianist Chizuru Omae, the organizer of the "Ask the sky on August 6th: Drawing, Playing, and Speaking to the Sky on August 6th" event held on August 6th, my first radio appearance in life came true. I've had experience appearing in films before, but this was my first time on mass media airwaves!
At first, I thought I might be nervous, but once I stood in front of the microphone, I spoke what I wanted to say as usual, and while enjoying the conversation, my allotted 15 minutes flew by in an instant.
A Circle of Activities Connected by "Shared Passion"
When I heard from Ms. Omae beforehand, "Let's mainly talk about Terashima-san's activities," I was truly delighted. It was precisely because she deeply resonated with our activities aimed at enabling people to express themselves freely, such as our "Drum and Dance Club," "Doodle Lab," and live performances. I felt like we were artists working with the same passion (though this expression might be rude to a veteran musician).
On the radio, starting from my encounter with Ms. Omae, I spoke extensively about my activities, my works, and the "Ask the sky on August 6th" event.
I have a small point of reflection though…! It seems my voice was broadcast quietly because I spoke away from the microphone. That was my mistake, I apologize! 🙇♂️ However, thanks to Ms. Omae, the two personalities, and the radio staff, I had a truly enjoyable and wonderful experience. It was truly an unexpected turn of events that I would ever appear on the radio.
Encounter with the Unknown! The Allure of Unpredictable Live Painting
The live painting I'm in charge of at this event is a performance where I spontaneously draw in response to Ms. Omae's improvised piano performance. We don't have any prior meetings. So, I don't know what kind of sounds Ms. Omae will play, nor when her performance will end.
In such an unpredictable situation, I feel the sound throughout my body and draw through my physical movements. Even I don't know what kind of painting will emerge until that very moment.
Rationally, you might feel anxious thinking "I don't know what will happen," but precisely because of that, there should be many emotions born only in that moment, and sensations that stimulate the five senses. By releasing your sensibilities and contemplating current issues like nuclear problems, war, and environmental problems, new ideas and perspectives, different from before, might surely emerge.
Please come and get caught up in this vortex of sensibility. We await you at Gorey Cafe on August 6th!
