Hello. I'm Terashima, Representative Employee of Jibun Rashiku LLC.
The bodywork "Unfolding Bodywork," which is one of the cornerstones of our activities. Its classes were temporarily suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic, but we restarted them about half a year ago. As Jibun Rashiku LLC, we are delighted to be able to offer a place for learning once again.
Upon restarting, we significantly changed the format of the classes from before. Previously, it was a style where dozens of students gathered for a full day to gain experience touching various bodies through pair work. Of course, there was the benefit of experiencing various patterns, but at the same time, I also felt frustration that we couldn't fully attend to each individual's inner sensations and the fundamental importance of "touch" in bodywork.
Therefore, the classes we restarted this time are held 1-2 times a month, in a 2-hour slot per day, and above all, we are committed to a small group system. This is because we want to carefully convey the fundamental and important aspects for deeply conversing with the body and drawing out one's inner sensations through "Unfolding Bodywork," facing each participant individually.
Honestly, I myself didn't intend to restart the classes immediately. However, one person who had received my bodywork session continuously conveyed their passionate desire to "absolutely want to learn Unfolding Bodywork" for an entire year. Since I am the type to honestly follow my inner voice, to be frank, I couldn't respond to that desire right away, and I put the conversation aside for about half a year.
Nevertheless, seeing that person convey their pure passion to "learn" with an unwavering earnest gaze every time we met, the fire to "teach" was lit within my heart once again. "I want to respond to this person's enthusiasm." With that single-minded determination, I decided to restart the classes.
The new small-group classes might proceed more slowly than before. However, seeing students carefully engage at their own pace, take their class learnings home as "homework" to practice, and gain insights and knowledge through their own efforts from those experiences, I feel a definite sense of accomplishment with this style. Ultimately, what I can help with in class is to provide the "triggers" and "seeds" for learning. I am once again reminded that how those are nurtured and connected to one's own growth depends on the recipient's "desire to learn" and their daily practice.
And, returning to the position of "teaching" bodywork to people after a long time, there is a scene that deeply resonates with me once again. That is, "how beautiful it is when people touch each other." Not just knowledge and technique, but the hands that gently lean into another's mind and body, touching with sincere heart, overflow with love and possess a dignity that makes one feel a definite strength. For me, it is the purest "art," and I seriously think about creating a photo book someday that only captures those beautiful moments of people touching each other.
Through these classes and our bodywork sessions, I am once again made to think about the "value" that bodywork provides. We set fees for both sessions and classes, but occasionally, there are people who pay more than the set amount, saying, "This amount is too cheap." I don't think the setting is inexpensive at all, but even so, I am truly grateful for the feeling that they "received more value than the amount," their sentiment, and their support for our activities, and I feel a deep joy that "it is being conveyed."
How my bodywork will be utilized, whether through the hands of students or within those who have received sessions, depends on each individual. However, I believe that this Unfolding Bodywork will be an aid for each person to face their own mind and body and shine "as themselves," connecting the world of the recipient, and the society they are involved with, to a better future.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all those who have supported and spread Unfolding Bodywork until now, especially the enthusiastic students who gave us the opportunity to restart these classes.
The classes will continue, and I myself am very much looking forward to seeing how the students will transform.
